We love Osoyoos. Our work with Watermark Beach Resort keeps us abuzz on what’s happening in the South Okanagan. So, when we heard about Osoyoos Oyster Festival, we were eager to get a few degrees warmer and enjoy a weekend away.
We love Osoyoos and we love oysters so we were excited to enjoy the fun. Overall, the festival was very well run, the events were amazing and well organized and there was a lot of wine and oysters all weekend long. It’s great when we get the opportunity to meet new people and network on a level of fun and friendship united by a shared love.
If you plan to go next year, get your tickets in advance. Saturday events sold out and there were a lot of people looking for tickets at the last minute.
On Thursday we attended the Under The Tuscan Sea – Oysters, Bubbles & Pizza event at Terrifina. No need to worry about sampling the wine as we took advantage of the shuttle pickup and dropoff. We were welcomed with a glass of Hester Creek Cab Franc (yum!). We also enjoyed sparkling wines from Covert Farms, Bella, Stone Boat (one of our favourites), Blue Mountain and Faustino Cidery. All wineries had a pizza pairing which was a unique touch. We particularly enjoyed the cucumber shallot viniagrette dressing that we sampled at the Outlandish Shellfish Oyster Station.
Watermark Beach Resort hosted the Art of the Oyster Pearl Gala on the Saturday evening. We enjoyed two hours of wine and oyster pairings, then finished the night out on the dance floor. It was a fantastic event where people came dressed up ready to have a blast.
It’s great to get away from it all every once in a while and we highly recommend the Oyster Festival.
